Hello! My name is Kelly Cooper and I look forward to us working together. As a mental health provider, it is always a great honor to me when clients trust me with their inner most thoughts and feelings, often things they have never told others. Below is a little about me, for you to feel comfortable knowing who is providing your care.
I was born and raised in the Chicago-land area. I completed my Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University (EIU) in 2014 and completed my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2016 from EIU. From there, I moved to Terre Haute, Indiana and started my career working within the Indiana Department of Corrections. I worked in correctional mental health care for five years before transitioning to higher education. I worked at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for the last four academic school years. My family moved to Indianapolis and I am excited to transition into private mental health care.
Over the years as a professional, I have refined my approach to therapy and treatment, working within a Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Existential Therapy approach. I assume the role of a helper in therapy and thoroughly enjoy the role of teaching within the therapeutic alliance. It is not lost on me when clients trust me with their personal lives and I consider it a wonderful privilege to walk alongside you during this season of your life. I have experience working with anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, personality disorders, ADHD/Autism spectrum disorders, grief, and life adjustment transitions. Life happens and I am here to help!
For fun, I enjoy spending time outside, walking my dog, and exploring new places. I am new to the Indianapolis area and would love your recommendations of places to see and foods to eat in this city!
